FAQ
What is our mission?
Rosemary’s Essentials aims to promote overall well being through the use of our botanical and natural products.
What does “beyond organic” mean?
We consider all of our ingredients organic, but given the financial aspect associated with obtaining and maintaining a certified status, some of our suppliers do not choose to opt in to obtaining certified status, so they consider themselves “beyond certified organic”. These farms do not use any pesticides, work with the earth, and respect the natural life cycle of the animal.
Why do you not offer a vegan alternative like shea butter?
Shea butter is a preferred alternative for a vegan option but still does not compare when it comes to nutrient composition. Shea butter is more expensive, clogs the pores, and can be unfitting for people with sensitive skin. Because tallow is made up of a similar cellular composition to our skin, it can be more ideal for all around general moisturizing use. Nutrients are stored in the fat of all animals, so it is better to get beef tallow from cows that have lived a happy, clean, whole life versus cows that were manufactured for slaughter and live fearful/stressed lives. At Rosemary’s Essentials, we take care to ensure that we embody our core values by only purchasing ethically and sustainably obtained tallow from local farmers who share our values.
What are the benefits of using beef tallow as a moisturizer?
Studies gathered from the National Library of Medicine demonstrate that not only is beef tallow moisturizing and anti-inflammatory, a number of studies have concluded that its therapeutic benefits include helping consumers address dermatological issues like atopic dermatitis and psoriasis. Beef tallow surpasses all other skin care products in terms of its dermatological benefits because its cellular composition most closely resembles that of our own human sebum; therefore, it is the most effective at penetrating the cell membrane to deliver nutrients to the skin.
According to author and expert botanist Shane Clayton, the fat content in beef tallow is replete with “antioxidants, vitamins such as A, D and K, anti-microbial palmitoleic acid, and the anti-inflammatory essential fatty acid called CLA - Conjugated Linoleic Acid - which has been linked to cancer prevention, fat loss, and improved brain function”.
Our Whipped Beef Tallow is simply made with only a handful of ingredients. We only use pure essential oils in our products because unlike artificial fragrances, essential oils do not block the body’s endocrine system and easily absorb into the skin. They also contain a myriad of psychological benefits, such as reduced stress and calming effects.
